Vegas Unsure if Jonathan Taylor Will Have Break Out Game vs. Titans
By Thomas Snodgrass
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has averaged just 53.5 rushing yards per game through the first two weeks of the season and this week will face a Tennessee Titans defense that sits in the middle of the pack in terms of rushing defense, allowing 106.5 rushing yards per game (14th in the NFL).
Taylor had just 51 rushing yards on 15 carries in a Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams and followed that with another ho-hum performance in a Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, rushing for just 56 yards on 17 carries. Taylor has also failed to find the endzone in the early part of the season, adding to his lackluster start.
WynnBET Sportsbook has Taylor’s rushing yards prop set at 64.5 rushing yards (over: -112/under: -116), and whether he hits the over on this prop will depend heavily on how frequently Colts’ head coach Frank Reich places running back Nyheim Hines in the backfield.
Taylor has actually been efficient as a receiver out of the backfield, catching seven of eight targets for 62 yards; nearly equaling Hines receiving totals (seven catches, 65 yards) out of the backfield. But, if Indianapolis finds themselves playing from behind, Hines could receive a large chunk of snaps as the primary receiving back on third down and in heavy passing situations.
The uncertainty on whether Taylor will break out this week is justified. If you look at Tennessee's Week 1 matchup against the Cardinals, Arizona’s primary receiving back Chase Edmonds picked up 106 total yards. This could be a big game for Hines.
