Wait Until the Second Half to Bet Warriors vs. Mavericks Game 4
By Ben Heisler
We're still waiting on a competitive game from start to finish in the NBA's Western Conference Finals.
It almost came in Game 3 in Dallas. After going into halftime down 48-47, the Dallas Mavericks got outscored by the Golden State Warriors 30-21 in the third quarter, leading to yet another non-competitive game despite the final score of 109-100 appearing much closer than it was.
With Game 4 approaching Tuesday night, the Warriors can sweep away the Mavs, up 3-0 in the series. Fortunately for bettors, oddsmakers expect this one to at least be close.
Over at WynnBET Sportsbook, the Mavs, despite one game away from a four-game sweep are 1-point favorites to get it done at home. While I too, expect a much more competitive game after three snoozers, there's another direction I'll choose to go instead of the full game spread or total.
The Warriors are Destroying the Mavericks in the Second Half
Per betting analyst Joe Osborne, the Warriors have taken the Mavericks to the wood shed in the second halves of games this series; outscoring their Western Conference Finals foes by just under 16 points per game.
While three games is a limited sample to go off of, the Warriors ranked eighth in the NBA this year in second half points, compared to the Mavericks who were 25th out of 30. Golden State averaged 55.7 points per game, including 62.3 in their last three games.
Dallas, meanwhile, averaged just 52.1 points in the second half of games this season, 46.7 over their last three.
With the Mavericks facing elimination, I expect another competitive first half performance, but once halftime comes, I'll be jumping right back on the Warriors' train.
If you're looking for a play on tonight's side or total, BetSided's Peter Dewey expects the Mavericks to slow things down and run the offense through Doncic as much as possible, leading him to lean UNDER 215.5 at WynnBET.
Don't forget, we'll break down all aspects of Game 4 on our daily betting show, "Daily Betslip" at 5 p.m. ET!
