The New York Yankees have been one of the best teams in baseball through the first two months of the 2022 season, but they lost a key piece of their lineup when Giancarlo Stanton went down with an ankle injury.

Stanton, who is hitting .285 with 11 homers and 35 RBIs this season, is a major reason why the Yankees are second in the odds at WynnBET to win the World Series this season.

Giancarlo Stanton Latest Injury Update

The New York Yankees placed Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list with ankle inflammation.

The Yankees are hoping that Stanton will just need 10 days on the IL before returning to the lineup after he underwent an MRI on Wednesday.

Giancarlo Stanton Complete Injury History

Stanton has been far from the healthiest player in his MLB career, and he's suffered his fair share of injuries over the last few season.

Here's a full list of all the injuries Stanton has suffered in his Major League career:

May 2021: Quad Strain

Stanton played in 139 games for the Yankees during the 2021 season, but he did miss time with a quad strain in mid-May.

August 2020: Hamstring Injury

In the shortened 2020 season, Stanton appeared in just 23 of 60 regular season games due to the hamstring injury.

2019 Season: Several Injuries

  • Left Biceps Strain
  • Left Shoulder Strain
  • Left Calf Strain
  • Right Quadriceps Strain
  • Right Posterior Cruciate Ligament Strain

All of those injuries limited Stanton to just 18 regular season games in the 2019 season.

August 2016: Grade 3 Groin Strain

Stanton’s groin injury cost him the remainder of the 2016 season and threw off the Miami Marlins’ playoff push.

June 2015: Broken Wrist

Stanton broke his wrist in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on a swing. He appeared in just 74 games that season.

September 2014: Facial Fractures

Stanton was hit in the face with a pitch by then-Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers. That has changed the way he approaches his at-bats, and led to him wearing a protective flap in front of his face.

2013 Season: Several Injuries

Sensing a theme here? Stanton missed 46 games in 2013 with injuries to his shoulder, thigh and ankle. He still hit 24 homers in 116 games.

2012 Season: Abdomen Strain, Knee Injury

Stanton was an All-Star in 2021, but he ended up playing in just 123 games after suffering an abdomen strain following the All-Star break.
