The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers both pulled off upset in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs to make the NFC Championship Game this weekend.

This will be the third time this season that the Rams and 49ers face off, as they are division rivals in the NFC West.

The 49ers have won the last six meetings between the two teams, and they upset the Rams in Week 18 of the NFL season to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

After beating the No. 1 seeded Green Bay Packers in the divisional round, the 49ers are looking to pick up another win as the underdog in the NFC Championship.

Here’s everything you need to know for the latest edition of the Rams-49ers rivalry:

When Is the NFC Championship Game?

  • Date: Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022
  • Kickoff time: 6:30 p.m. EST
  • TV channel: FOX
  • Live stream: FOX Sports App | fuboTV

The NFC Championship Game will be the second of the two conference title games on Sunday, with the AFC Championship Game coming first at 3:00 p.m. EST.

The 49ers and Rams have both won NFC title games recently, as the 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 54, and the Rams lost to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 53.

Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan have a long history against each other, but Shanahan has gotten the best of McVay, winning the previous six matchups.

Where Is the NFC Championship Game?

  • City: Inglewood, California
  • Stadium: SoFi Stadium

The Rams have a unique opportunity to host the Super Bowl this season, as it is scheduled to be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Los Angeles will also play host to the NFC Championship Game, as it won the NFC West division this season over the 49ers and Arizona Cardinals.

SoFi Stadium was originally supposed to host the Super Bowl last season, but weather-related construction delays forced the NFL to push it back a season.

NFC Championship Game Odds for 49ers vs. Rams

The Rams are favored to win this game at WynnBET Sportsbook, but let’s break down the odds and total.

Spread:

  • 49ers +3.5 (-110)
  • Rams -3.5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • 49ers: +150
  • Rams: -180

Total:

  • 46.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Both of these teams have been strong in the postseason since 2018, as the Rams are 5-2 against the spread in postseason games while the 49ers are 4-1.

The Rams are second in the odds at WynnBET to win the Super Bowl, while the 49ers are in third at +450.

Shanahan has dominated McVay in the past, but is it possible that the latter gets the last laugh in Sunday’s playoff game?

NFC Championship Game Prediction for 49ers vs. Rams

The 49ers have been fantastic as an underdog under Kyle Shanahan and in this postseason run, but I’m not sure I can trust their offense in this game.

Jimmy Garoppolo has thrown for just 303 yards and two interceptions in the playoffs, and yet the 49ers have found a way to win with solid defense and special teams play.

That may be harder to do against a well-rounded Rams team that torched both the Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers so far this postseason.

I think the Rams are the team to back, although I’d love to see if this spread moves under that key number of 3. Either way, I think the Rams are the better team and will advance to Super Bowl 56.
