After a comeback win over the Clippers in the Play-In Tournament, the Minnesota Timberwolves are back in the playoffs as the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference.

They'll take on the No. 2 Memphis Grizzlies in the first round and can rest easy knowing they're officially in the dance. Karl-Anthony Towns put together his best year in the NBA and Anthony Edwards enjoyed a breakout season as Minnesota used a second-half surge to stamp their ticket to the playoffs.

Reed Wallach previewed the series here, but the Timberwolves' emergence has us wondering when they last made the postseason.

When Was the Last Time the Timberwolves Made the Playoffs?

The Timberwolves haven't enjoyed much playoff success in their history. They last made the playoffs in 2018, when they lost 4-1 to the Rockets in the first round.

Before 2018, they hadn't made the playoffs since a Conference Finals loss to the Lakers in 2004. That 2004 season is the only time Minnesota has ever made it past the first round.

Timberwolves Odds to Win the NBA Championship, Western Conference

WynnBET Sportsbook has the Timberwolves listed at +2500 to win the Western Conference and +6000 to win the NBA Finals.

Minnesota finished the season with the 10th-best net rating in the league and looked dominant at times. With Towns and Edwards, they have two players who can explode at any moment and a number of key depth pieces like D'Angelo Russell that can put pressure on defenses.

Edwards stole the show against the Clippers and will hope to match the Grizzlies' high-flying prowess with some highlights of his own. The Timberwolves split the regular season series with Memphis 2-2, but are confident they can finally achieve the playoff success that Minnesota fans have been dreaming of for so long.

If they can beat the Grizzlies, they'll take on the winner of the Warriors vs Nuggets series. I'm thrilled to see how this first round matchup plays out, but we know Minnesota will be fully locked-in as they aim to become the most successful group in franchise history.
