Wizards vs. Cavaliers Prediction and Odds for Sunday, October 23 (This Donovan Mitchell Prop Has Value)
By Peter Dewey
The Cleveland Cavaliers are fresh off of a blowout win over the Chicago Bulls heading into Sunday’s showdown with the 2-0 Washington Wizards.
The Wizards also beat the Bulls in their last game on Friday, and now they face Cleveland, who is in the second game of a back-to-back.
Cavs All-Star point guard Darius Garland is expected to miss his second straight game with an eye injury that he suffered in the team’s season opener against the Toronto Raptors.
Cleveland has relied heavily on Donovan Mitchell in its first two games, and he’s delivered in a big way. Can the Cavs keep this rolling against a tough Wizards defense (fourth in the NBA in defensive rating this season)?

I wrote up my favorite play in this game in today’s NBA Best Bets column, and you guessed it, it’s a player prop.
Donovan Mitchell has stepped up in a big way in the Cavs’ first two games, essentially replacing Darius Garland as the team’s lead playmaker.
Mitchell went for 31 points, two rebounds and nine assists in the team’s season opener. He followed that up with a monster game against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, posting 32 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
He’s soared past this number, and with Cleveland giving him so much usage on offense, he should have a solid base in points alone to clear this prop. Until Garland comes back, anything under 40 in a PRA prop is worth considering for Mitchell.
