WNBA Playoffs: Sky, Mercury On Brink of Eliminating Top Seeds

Well this certainly isn’t how we saw things playing out. Both the Connecticut Sun and the Las Vegas Aces, who’ve been the favorites to win the WNBA title for nearly two months now, are on the brink of elimination. The Chicago Sky eked out a win on Sunday, while the Phoenix Mercury blew the doors off of the Aces.

The Aces and Sun are in win-or-go-home situations. The Mercury have the attention of the Aces and the oddsmakers, with their title odds reflecting where the confidence lies. Phoenix has veterans on its team that have been in this situation before and aren’t scared of the moment. 

The oddsmakers are still showing a lot of faith in the Sun to pull this series out, or at least push it to a Game 5. The Sky have shown they can keep up with the Sun, and there would be nothing more that Candace Parker would want than to reach the Finals in her first season in Chicago. 

Game 4 will either be about the favorites getting back home for a Game 5 or both underdogs shocking the league, either way great drama is on the way.
