It’s time to buckle up if you’re a baseball fan or bettor.

The season is coming to an end and the wild card races, especially in the American League, are razor thin.

The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays will open up a pivotal three-game set that will prove to be the most important series of the season for both teams. The Yankees currently hold the top spot in the wild card race, and the Red Sox are in the second spot. The Blue Jays are one game back from the Red Sox entering their series against the Yankees.

The Mariners (two games back) and the A’s (three games back) are also still very much in the hunt.

The Blue Jays have gotten the better of the Yankees so far this season -- they’re 10-6 against them in 2021. They also completed a four-game sweep against them in their last series that wrapped up on September 9th.

WynnBET has the Blue Jays set as -125 (bet $125 to profit $100) favorites and the Yankees are set as slight +105 (bet $100 to profit $105) underdogs for Game 1. The total for the game is set at nine runs.

Blue Jays vs Yankees Prediction and Pick

Lefty Hyun Jin Ryu (4.34 ERA) will get the start in the series opener for the Blue Jays. He’ll face Yankees righty Jameson Taillon (4.41 ERA).

Ryu has had a few rough outings in recent weeks, but he’s dominated the Yankees this season so I feel comfortable backing him and the Blue Jays at -125 on the moneyline. In four starts against New York this year, Ryu holds a 2-0 record and a 1.88 ERA.

Meanwhile, the opposite is true for Taillon against the Jays. Toronto has lit him up for eight runs in his two starts against them this season. He holds a 6.75 ERA against the Jays in 2021.

The Blue Jays have also been one of the best offenses in baseball this season. They rank second in both OPS (.803) and total runs scored (285) dating back to August 1st.

I might be biased considering I have a sizable bet on them to win the World Series, but I’ll back the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
