Week 16 in the NFL kicks off tonight with an important matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans. With just three games left to play, this primetime showdown has a lot of playoff implications for both the NFC and AFC.

The Titans are hanging on perilously to a slim lead in the AFC South over the Indianapolis Colts after getting beat by the Pittsburgh Steelers 19-13 last week. Now, on short rest, the Titans are going to do everything they can to avoid losing four of their last five and opening the further for Indy to jam their foot in.

Meanwhile, the 49ers are coming off a big win over the Atlanta Falcons 31-13 and are still in the playoff hunt in the NFC. Despite trailing the NFC West leaders by two games, neither the Cardinals nor Rams have clinched. Both teams are also struggling so there is a world where the 49ers could sneak in.

But, before we jump too far ahead, let’s review the odds for this Week 16 TNF game, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

49ers vs. Titans Prediction and Pick

Are the Tennesee Titans the worst division leader in the NFL right now? Maybe. They have lost three of their last four games and have struggled to get going on offense with their best playout sidelined indefinitely. Not only are they without the best running back in football, but things elsewhere are starting to fall apart too. The Titans have turned the ball over 13 times in their last four games and Ryan Tannehill is again becoming a liability to outright lose games for this team.

Meanwhile, the San Fransisco 49ers are playing like a division leader and have won five of their last six games. Their offense has exploded and they now rank second in yards per play and are averaging 29.2 PPG. Their strategy is a bit one-dimensional and relies heavily on their ground attack, but the results speak for themselves. I realize that the Titans have one of the better rushing defenses in the league, but the 49ers have proven their ability to run on anyone over the last month. Also, their defense struggles against the run in the red zone and this could lead to another big night for Deebo Samuel out of the backfield.

Any way you slice it, these are two teams of equal talent heading in totally opposite directions. My early week preview had the 49ers winning and covering the 3-point spread and despite a slight shift in the spread, my call remains the same.

Pick: San Francisco 49ers -3.5 (-110)
