Week 5 of the college football season has some star-studded matchups, with two top 10 games in Cincinnati and Notre Dame and Arkansas and Georgia leading the way. 

Currently, Alabama and Georgia have the two shortest odds to win the national championship, respectively, while the other teams are trying to get their respect in the odds standings. Several teams have a chance to make a statement on Saturday, which should give their odds a boost. 

How will the outcome of the marquee matchups affect National Championship futures?

In order to understand what the standings would look like after this week, BetSided reached out to WynnBET trader Patrick Wall for more clarity.

“Cincinnati at Notre Dame, Arkansas at Georgia and Ole Miss at Alabama all have massive National Championship futures implications. It is almost like playing a hand of poker, analyzing which outs each player could have depending on what they represent at the table,” Wall expressed to BetSided.

Wall also acknowledged that the Bearcats and the Fighting Irish need to win this game and win out just to be seriously taken into consideration for the College Football Playoff -- which makes this a playoff game for both teams. Arkansas is still showing they can compete at a high level, so a win is desperately needed to solidify themselves in the SEC race. 

“Unless Ole Miss or Arkansas pulls off a massive upset, college football fans likely get the matchup they want in the SEC title game in Georgia and Alabama. If both teams are undefeated to that point, I would not be surprised if both teams get in, barring that it is a close game.”

Dominant performances are needed to see a big jump

The Crimson Tide are +150 to win the national championship, while Georgia is +200. Cincinnati is +4000, which is noticeably behind Oregon at +2000. Ole Miss and Notre Dame are tied at +5000, leaving Arkansas with the most to prove at +8000.
