Best 2022 Masters Head to Head Matchup Bets (Take Discount on Cameron Smith vs. Scottie Scheffler)

Throughout the week, BetSided has opened up the vault of Masters betting content; ranging from the top betting trends, tips and tricks for winning your Masters pools, and even interviews with last year's runner-up in Will Zalatoris.

There's also been plenty of betting picks to win outright, first round leaders, longshots and darkhorses, fades to steer clear of and more!

However, one additional category in the world of golf betting worth considering is head-to-head bets. For those new to the scene, sportsbooks like WynnBET pair up golfers with similar outright odds to win in a one-on-one competition for total strokes for the tournament.

Here are three of my favorites on the board at Augusta this week with all odds courtesy of WynnBET.

2022 Masters Head to Head Predictions and Picks

Unfamiliar with several key golf betting stats like "strokes gained," or "scrambling?" Here's a guide to the golf stats worth knowing!

Cameron Smith (+110) over Scottie Scheffler (-130)

I get that Scheffler is hotter than fish grease at the moment, but this feels a blatant disregard for Smith's impressive recent form.

Smith just won The Players Championship, gaining 14.3 total strokes over the field despite a rough go off the tee (-5.2 SG: off-the-tee). Like Scheffler, Smith's won twice this year already, but also has more recent success at Augusta National than the young Texan.

Meanwhile, Scheffler comes off a 55th place finish at The Players, in which he lost -2.3 strokes tee-to-green, and nearly four strokes with his irons.

I think Scheffler's being immensely overvalued here, and I love getting Smith at plus-odds.

Corey Conners (-120) vs. Tyrell Hatton (+100)

"Canada's Finest" has a pair of top 10 finishes over the last two Masters Tournaments, and has looked excellent over his last 12 rounds. Via Fantasy National, Conners is 7th in strokes gained: tee-to-green, 9th in ball striking, and third off-the-tee.

Where Hatton has him beat is with the putter, ranking second in strokes gained: putting over his past 12 rounds. I'm not as concerned about Conners ranking 65th, because so many other parts of his game are so good that many weeks it doesn't stop him from contention. At the Arnold Palmer Invitational in early March, Conners lost three strokes with his putter, but still gained 11.3 tee-to-green and finished in 11th.

Hatton finished T18 last year at Augusta, but also has two missed cuts in his last five tries, sandwiched in with a T56 and T44.

Russell Henley (-120) vs. Tony Finau (+100)

Henley is a cut maker extraordinaire. You have to go all the way back to July 18, 2021 at the Open Championshio to find the last time he missed a cut.

So far in 2022, he's played in six tournaments, finishing no worse than 33rd to go along with a T2 and two T13's as well. While he's struggled in his last four tournaments off the tee, losing strokes in all, he's been outstanding with his irons, particularly at The Players where he gained 11.5 strokes over the weekend.

As for Finau, three top 10s in four years at Augusta look awfully good, but his recent form has been nothing special while trending towards bad. He's lost strokes in five consecutive rounds around-the-green, and up until the Valero Championship in early April had lost strokes with his putter.

Maybe he's set to break out of it, but I'll back the far more consistent Henley in this matchup.

Good luck to all your bets! If you want to put them to the test, consider entering BetSided's Masters Pool below!
