Best Home Run Prop Bet Picks for Thursday, May 12

  • Byron Buxton
  • Bryan Reynolds
  • Yoán Moncada

Byron Buxton (+370) - Minnesota Twins vs. Houston Astros

Buxton is off to a fantastic start this season; on pace to hit a career-high in homers, which is special in a year where home runs are down. He’s hit three home runs in the last six games, showing his power on a near nightly basis.

He's missed a few games with a hip injury but returned to action on Wednesday

Luis Garcia is on the mound tonight and he’s already allowed five home runs this season. He can be caught and Buxton is the one to do it. -- Donnavan Smoot

Bryan Reynolds - Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds

Bryan Reynolds has gotten out to a bit of a slow start for the Pittsburgh Pirates this season, hitting just .238, but does already have four homers. This pick is simply a move to fade the Cincinnati Reds, who just can’t seem to stop allowing runs, even when they win this season. The Reds have a team ERA of 6.61 and have allowed a league-high 47 home runs this season.

I’ll trust Reynolds, the team’s All-Star, to be the one that takes any Reds pitcher deep on Thursday night. -- Peter Dewey

Yoán Moncada - Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees

The White Sox got a nice boost bat to their lineup with Moncada's return from a right oblique strain suffered towards the end of Spring Training. So far in two games back, he's collected a hit in each game.

The Sox host Luis Gil and the New York Yankees on the South Side tonight, with Gil making his 2022 debut. He made six starts in 2021, and after not giving up a run in his first three games, he gave up four home runs in his final two starts, averaging 3.29 home runs per nine innings in those games.

Despite being a switch-hitter, Moncada has always been a far superior power hitter from the left side against right-handed pitching. He owns a career isolated power (ISO = SLG - AVG), of just under .200, compared to .129 hitting from the right side. For perspective, league average is roughly .140.

It's a humid 80 degree night in Chicago, and even with the wind blowing in, if Moncada gets a hold of one, it won't be enough to keep it in the park. -- Ben Heisler
