Best MLB Parlay Picks Today (Four Considerable Pitching Advantages in Play)
By Joe Summers
I think we could all use a bit of a distraction. Not to remove ourselves from important conversations, but perhaps to spark some joy.
Luckily, there's 15 MLB games today ready to provide a quick escape. The BetSided team has you covered with previews for each, but I've got a few games I'm targeting for today's hopefully uplifting parlay.
Using the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook, here are my favorite MLB parlay picks of the day:
Best MLB Parlay Picks Today
Marlins (-132) vs Mets
Sandy Alcantara is the rightful NL Cy Young favorite (+250) and should continue his incredible season today. Through 14 starts, Alcantara surrendered more than two runs precisely one time and has a 1.14 ERA this month.
The Marlins are 7-1 in Alcantara's last eight starts and have won nine in a row as home favorites. Taijuan Walker and New York are dangerous, but the Mets are 1-4 in their last five as road underdogs and Walker's 3.83 expected ERA implies negative regression is on the horizon.
Roll with Miami to stay hot behind another dominant performance from their ace.
Blue Jays -1.5 (+112) vs Brewers
I outlined the case for Toronto here but the case is similar to that for the Marlins behind Alcantara: in this house, we always back Alek Manoah.
The Blue Jays are 20-5 in his last 25 starts dating back to last season, and his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile is a thing of beauty:
Compare that picture of excellence to Milwaukee starter Adrian Houser, who has a 6.43 ERA in his last five starts as the Brewers are 2-6 in his previous eight outings.
Toronto has the better lineup and a significant advantage on the mound. Trust Manoah and the Blue Jays at a short price.
Cardinals -1.5 (+140) vs Cubs
The Cubs have three wins in their last 17 games and Kyle Hendricks has done nothing to inspire confidence he should be trusted. His career-worst 5.43 expected ERA is among the worst marks in MLB and Chicago is 1-4 in his last five starts.
On the other end, Andre Pallante is growing comfortable in a starter's role and St. Louis' offense is humming behind NL MVP favorite Paul Goldschmidt. They're 7-2 in their last nine as home favorites with five of those wins coming by multiple runs.
I expect a huge day from the Cardinals' offense. In the Cubs' last six games as road underdogs, all losses, they've been outscored 52-11. That should be impossible, yet Chicago finds a way! St. Louis should dominate this matchup.
Phillies (-125) vs Padres
In his first eight appearances of the season, MacKenzie Gore allowed eight runs total. In four innings against the Rockies in his most recent start, Gore allowed eight runs.
That came after he surrendered six to Colorado in just 2.1 innings, so something is amiss with the Padres' left-handed rookie. At the least, I'm inclined to trust Aaron Nola's body of work over Gore's and think there's considerable value on the Phillies as road favorites.
Philadelphia has five straight wins behind Nola and he's allowed two runs total in his last three starts, spanning 23 innings. San Diego is feeling the loss of Manny Machado and the Phillies are primed to take advantage. With a 2-9 record over their previous nine as home underdogs, the Padres have struggled in these spots of late and should continue to do so tonight.
Look for the Phillies to improve to 10-4 in their last 14 as road favorites as they keep pushing in the NL East.
