It's the final men's major golf tournament of the year, so we have to take advantage of it!

I've already given you my best bets for the tournament as well as a few prop bets to consider, but what about the most exciting prop of all? Will someone record a hole-in-one?

Let's take a look at the history of the hole-in-one at the Open Championship as well as my prediction for the bet.

Open Championship Hole-in-One Odds

Open Championship Hole-in-One History

There have been 28 holes-in-one dating back to 1981, but we should key in on Royal Liverpool specifically. Let's take a look at a list of holes-in-one at this week's course. The Open has only been Royal Liverpool twice since 1981. 2006 and 2014.

  • Richard Sterne - 2006
  • John Senden - 2006

There were two holes-in-one in 2006, but no golfer recorded a hole-in-one the last time that it was hosted at Royal Liverpool in 2014.

So, how should we handle this bet?

Well, based on the scorecard I think the wager to place is on "No hole-in-one" at +160.

There are four Par 3s, but there is really only one hole that has a real chance of being aced, The 17th hole which comes in at around 136 yards. The other three Par 3s measure at least 194 yards, so there's little chance one is recorded there.

I'll take "No" at plus-money this week.
