Carson Wentz’s recovery from what seems to be a serious foot injury in training camp has been nothing short of remarkable.
The quarterback will start for the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Frank Reich.
Colts’ HC Frank Reich said Carson Wentz will start Sunday vs. Seattle.

This is huge for the Colts. Even with his struggles last year with the Philadelphia Eagles, Wentz is a much better option than Jacob Eason at quarterback.
Wentz and the Colts will try to re-write some history in Week 1, as Reich is 0-3 with the Colts in season openers. The Colts have also gone just 7-8 through Weeks 1-5 in Reich’s career in Indy, showing that slow starts have become the norm.

Having Wentz under center immediately improves the Colts’ ceiling, but they have seen the line for Sunday’s matchup move all the way to Seattle -3. The Colts opened as three-point favorites at WynnBET, but they now find themselves as home underdogs to start the season.
Reich is trying to unlock Wentz’s MVP form from the 2017 season when he was the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach. Wentz led the NFL in interceptions last season, but he has a chance to show with the right coaching staff that he can still be a top quarterback in this league.
It will be interesting to see how Wentz fares coming off the surgery, but Reich wouldn’t run him out there if he wasn’t ready to play. The Colts could be an intriguing bet as three-point dogs, but our Ben Heisler thinks Seattle is the play to make this week.
