Week 8 of the college football season is going to have a lot to live up to after the No. 1 team was upset in Week 6 (Alabama) and the No. 2 team in Week 7 (Iowa).

The BetSided team was 2-2 with our picks last week, moving our season record on straight up moneyline upsets to 17-12.

Here are this week’s best upset picks in college football with all odds via WynnBET Sportsbook:

College Football Upset Pick: Syracuse (+145) Upsets Virginia Tech

Syracuse was a field goal away from going to overtime with Clemson last week, but I’m on the bandwagon again this week. Syracuse can hang with anybody in the ACC and Virginia Tech is no different.

The Hokies are 1-3 in their last four games, haven’t covered since Week 2 and have one of the worst offenses in the country. Virginia Tech may be able to keep it close because of its defense, but Syracuse’s rushing attack will be the difference in the game. The Orange have a top 25 rushing offense and Virginia Tech will struggle stopping it. -- Donnavan Smoot

College Football Upset Pick: Purdue (+135) Upsets Wisconsin

The Boilermakers are coming off a huge win against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Week 7, and I think they keep the upsets coming this week.

Wisconsin hasn’t looked all that impressive this season, and Purdue’s passing offense (334.2 yards per game) should help it attack a Wisconsin team that is solid against the run (2.2 yards per carry allowed).

I’ll roll with the Boilermakers to build off a huge win last week. -- Peter Dewey

College Football Upset Pick: Boston College (+200) Upsets Louisville

People may be looking at the North Carolina State loss, 33-7 at home, and ruling out Boston College, but this is still a good football team that can contain Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham. The team is 22nd in defensive success rate this season and 19th in explosive rush defense.

After facing two straight elite defenses in Clemson and NC State, I think BC’s Dennis Grossel should find more success against a shaky Cardinals defense that allows quarterbacks to complete more than 65% of passes and struggles stopping big plays. -- Reed Wallach

College Football Upset Pick San Diego State (+155) Upsets Air Force

Any time you’re handicapping a game involving Army, Navy, or Air Force, the first thing you should do is take a look at their opponents' run defense. The three schools literally rank in the top three in college football in run play percentage and it’s not even close. Air Force ranks second to Army, running the ball on 88.76% of its offensive plays.

It’s going to have trouble moving the ball on the ground against this San Diego State team that ranks fourth in the country in run defense, keeping opponents to gain just 2.3 yards per carry.

The Aztecs also run the ball quite often, ranking seventh in college football in run play percentage (65.38%). Fortunately for them, the Air Force defense is allowing an average of 3.6 yards per carry so the recipe for success is there for San Diego State. -- Iain MacMillan

College Football Upset Pick Ohio (+185) Upsets Kent State

Kent State has had some impressive moments this season, but they've pretty much all come at home and all have come against below average competition.

The Golden Flashes are 0-4 on the road and face an Ohio team that presents a very tough matchup for them.

The Bobcats run the football. Like, a lot. They average 5.6 yards per attempt which is 8th best in the country. Kent State is 10th worst in college football at stopping the run, giving up 214.4 yards per game.

Also, via my pal Joe Fortenbaugh at ESPN, The Bobcats are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games as a dog. Woof. Give me Ohio to win straight up as a home dog. -- Ben Heisler
