The Raiders have beaten two solid teams right out of the gate, winning their home opener against the Baltimore Ravens on a Monday Night overtime thriller, and going into Heinz Field in Pittsburgh to take down the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-0 and quarterback Derek Carr is a huge reason why.

Through two weeks, Carr has completed 66.7 percent of his passes and is averaging 408.5 passing yards per game. Las Vegas’ weak running game has forced the Raiders to lean on their quarterback more, but he has stepped up to the occasion. This week, Carr will face a Miami Dolphins passing defense that allowed 179 passing yards to Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen in a 35-0 Dolphins’ loss in Week 2.

WynnBET Sportsbook currently has Las Vegas as -3.5-point favorites over Miami and they have set Carr’s passing props at 278.5 passing yards (over -116/under -115) and 2.5 passing touchdowns (over: +175/under: -240). And with a 2-0 start and some gaudy passing numbers, Carr has the 11th shortest odds to win the NFL MVP, an intriguing value at +2250.

Running back Josh Jacobs is the Raiders rushing yards leader with only 34 rushing yards. To say the Las Vegas running game has been awful so far would be an understatement. That awful running game could get some room to run this week against the Dolphins 28th-ranked rushing defense. But, with Jacobs doubtful for Week 3, it looks like Carr will be manning the offense once again.

If Carr can lead the Raiders to a 3-0 start and post another game with prodigious passing numbers, he should start scooting up the list for MVP odds.
