Today's MLB slate of games is short and sweet; with just six on the board to wager on.

I'll be hanging out in the state of Ohio for my three favorite plays on the night; zoning in on an underdog and strikeout prop in Cincinnati; while looking to rock out on a total in Cleveland.

Let's dive into the matchups, with all odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

MLB Best Bets for Monday, June 6

  • Diamondbacks (+106) at Reds
  • Hunter Greene UNDER 6.5 K's (-130)
  • Rangers vs. Guardians OVER 9 (-125)

Diamondbacks ML (+106) at Reds

It feels gross to back Madison Bumgarner on the moneyline, but against Greene and the Reds tonight with crummy weather on the horizon, it's absolutely the right play in my mind.

The Reds are just 1-8 in Greene's last nine starts, and since his 7.1 no-hit innings, he's gone shorter and shorter in each of his last three starts; only going 3.2 IP in his most recent outing vs. the Red Sox.

Greene's walk rate is already at 4.5/9 innings, and with crummy weather scheduled in the forecast, I don't trust him to have much command.

While BetSided's Josh Yourish disagrees, backing the Reds on the moneyline to get it done at home; Joe Summers is also with me; backing the Diamondbacks in the first leg of his MLB Parlay of the Day.

Hunter Greene UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts (-130)

Greene throws straight gas: 12 strikeouts per nine innings this year, and Arizona punches out the second-most amount in the Majors this season at 25%. Unfortunately, this is not the spot for Greene to hit this strikeout prop tonight.

As mentioned earlier, since his no-hit start vs. the Pirates, Greene has gone an average of under five innings per start; giving up 10 ER in 14.2 IP. Rain and thunderstorms are predicted in the forecast in Cincinnati, and if there's a sizable delay, it would be a serious disaster for the Reds to throw Greene back into the game and risk serious injury.

Between his lack of command, overall struggles, and looming weather, I don't envision a scenario where he goes deep enough to register 7-plus strikeouts this evening.

Rangers vs. Guardians OVER 9 (-125)

This is a nice opportunity to jump on one of the few sportsbooks left that's kept this total at nine; since the consensus odds now have this up to 9.5.

The weather is almost certain to come into play in tonight's matchup. It's 80 degrees and humid in Cleveland tonight, with the wind blowing straight out to center field at 13-plus mph.

Both bats have been hot; outscoring their opponents by 32 runs over their last 10 games combined.

Rangers starter Jonathan Gray has had a rough go in his first season in Texas; particularly on the road with a 5.40 ERA.

While Guardians SP Cal Quantrill has been solid, I see some regression coming his way. His expected ERA (xERA) is almost a full run higher (4.27) than his 3.52 ERA, and with hitter-friendly weather tonight; we could see several balls fly out of Progressive Field.
