NFL Week 3 Up-to-Date Odds: Which Spreads, Totals Have Moved Most?
By Ben Heisler
Ahead of Sunday's slate of NFL action for Week 3, several teams have seen their opening and mid-week lines move drastically heading into the morning before kickoff.
The largest movers have been the Washington Football Team, who opened on the road against the Buffalo Bills as 9.5-point underdogs but are now +7 on WynnBET. Both teams are 1-1 this season, and 1-1 against the spread.
Washington is set to make its second straight start with backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke under center. On Thursday Night Football in prime time against the New York Giants in Week 2, he went 34-46 for 336 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Washington's 30-29 comeback victory. Heinicke makes his first career road start at 1pm ET today.
Two other matchups with notable movement throughout the week include the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions. The Lions host the Ravens from Ford Field as 7.5-point home underdogs, but opened at +9 at the start of the week on WynnBET. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed practice during the week and was reportedly dealing with both a stomach bug, as well as a sore hip from when he flipped into the end zone during their Sunday Night Football victory vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. He is expected to play.
The Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings have also seen their line move with the Seahawks opening as 1-point road favorites against Minnesota, and moving up a point to -2. With the Vikings losing two close games, one in overtime at Cincinnati and the other on a missed field in Arizona to start the season, don't be surprised to see Seattle's line climb even higher before its 4:25 pm ET kickoff today. Dalvin Cook is expected to miss the game for the Vikings.
Which NFL Week 3 Totals Have Shifted Most?
For totals, the Chicago Bears will start rookie quarterback Justin Fields against the Cleveland Browns today as 7.5-point underdogs on the road. Oddsmakers expect both defenses to perform well as the total has shifted from 46.5 down to 44.5.
Lastly, despite two of the best defenses matching up at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, oddsmakers have jacked up the total when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the Los Angeles Rams this afternoon at 4:25 pm ET. After opening up at 54, the line has jumped a point-and-a-half to 55.5; making it the highest total on the slate.
