Odds Point To Taylor Heinicke Out-Dueling Matt Ryan
After a brilliant game against the New York Giants, Taylor Heinicke came back down to earth against the Buffalo Bills. Heinicke has taken over for Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is dealing with a hip injury.
Heinicke threw for 212 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions against the Bills, easily making it his worst game of the year. He’ll have a good opportunity to bounce back, as Washington travels to Atlanta to take on Matt Ryan and the Falcons.
WynnBET has released the player props for Heinicke and Ryan, and the former is projected to have the better afternoon. Heinicke’s prop for passing yards is set at 258.5, while Ryan’s is at 262.5 -- both have -115 pick’em odds for the over/under. Although Heinicke has a slightly lower line on passing yards, he has the advantage on where it counts -- the scoreboard. Both quarterbacks have their passing touchdown line at 1.5, but Heinicke’s over is set at -145 compared to Ryan’s -115.
Atlanta is allowing 255.3 passing yards per game, which bodes well for Heinicke’s over. As a whole, the Falcons give up over 31 points per game. Washington is going to be able to put points on the board, and Heinicke will have a big part to play in that.
Ryan has found his footing in the last two games, but he only threw for 243 yards last week against the Giants. If Ryan has plays how he has against the NFC East this season, don’t be surprised to see Heinicke have the better day.
