Having a player as talented as Aaron Rodgers at quarterback can truly change the outlook of an entire team.

The Green Bay Packers, who have been fortunate to have Rodgers his entire career, got a small taste of life without the three-time MVP this offseason and it’s obvious that they are much better with him under center.

Green Bay has seen its odds to win the NFC North this season soar since Rodgers reported to training camp, and they have now moved from -160 at WynnBET to -175 ahead of Week 1.

NFC North Division Odds

  • Green Bay Packers: -175
  • Minnesota Vikings: +250
  • Chicago Bears: +550
  • Detroit Lions: +2000

Green Bay has kept most of its roster intact, with Kevin King, Aaron Jones and Robert Tonyan all back in 2021, and with the rest of the division facing some major questions, oddsmakers are favoring the Packers in a big way.

Can Anyone Compete With the Packers in the NFC North?

The Vikings have the second-best odds to win the NFC North, but they finished 7-9 last season and missed the playoffs. In fact, they finished third in the division behind the Bears, but Minnesota does have the benefit of Danielle Hunter’s return on defense this season.

Still, can we really trust Kirk Cousins to lead a team to a division title over Aaron Rodgers? As long as the Packers quarterback stays healthy the answer is no, and it should be for the rest of the division as well.

Andy Dalton is going to start over Justin Fields in Week 1, and that immediately limits the Bears’ ceiling. Even if Fields played, and played well, the Bears have too many holes on the offensive line for me to consider them a true playoff contender, never mind vying for a division title.

The Lions are in a massive rebuild, leaving the Packers as the obvious favorite. Bettors may want to grab Green Bay at the -175 number, as it’s likely to only increase as the season goes on.
