Hurricane Ida moved the season opener between the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers to Jacksonville.

The oddsmakers at WynnBET believe that favors the Packers, as Green Bay moved from a three-point favorite all the way to a 4.5-point favorite ahead of Sunday’s 4:25 p.m. EST matchup. 

Aaron Rodgers is just 3-4 in his career in Florida, but the reigning NFL MVP is out to prove something in the 2021 campaign after an offseason where he almost stepped away from the game and Green Bay due to problems with the organization. 

It’s a new era for the Saints, who will have Jameis Winston under center after Drew Brees retired this offseason, but Sean Payton could see his offense explode even more with Winston at quarterback after Brees looked like a shell of his former self in 2020. 

Winston will need to avoid turnovers if he wants to succeed, and he will be without his top target in Michael Thomas (PUP list), but the Saints could still make some noise in the NFC South.

Playing at a neutral site can make things tricky for bettors, especially considering there is very little history to go off of for the Packers. 

So who has the advantage? 

Considering that the Packers were already road favorites, I think Green Bay still deserves the nod here against the Saints. The Packers were 3-2 as road favorites in the 2020 campaign, and I’d trust Aaron Rodgers to handle business in Week 1 over a new-look Saints roster with Jameis Winston. 

For bettors looking for another angle, Green Bay and New Orleans were a combined 21-15 on overs last season and could be in line for a high-scoring affair in Week 1 with the total already set at 50.0.
