Ravens vs. Raiders: Odds, Spread, Over/Under and Prediction for NFL Week 1
By Peter Dewey
Jon Gruden and the Las Vegas Raiders have yet to make the playoffs since he returned as the team’s head coach, and they’ll have a daunting Week 1 matchup on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens.
This will be the third time in four years that Gruden and the Raiders will open the season on Monday Night Football, with Las Vegas (then Oakland) going 1-1 in the first two matchups.
Baltimore is looking to build on a strong finish to the 2020 season, where it won a playoff game for the first time under Lamar Jackson. John Harbaugh made the questionable decision of playing running back J.K. Dobbins in the team’s third preseason game, and it cost them. Dobbins suffered a torn ACL and will now miss the entire season.
However, wideout Marquise Brown appears to be healthy after suffering an injury in training camp and should help the Ravens’ passing game in Week 1.
The Ravens are favorites on the road in Week 1, but here’s how everything looks at WynnBET for Monday’s matchup:
Ravens vs. Raiders Spread, Odds and Over/Under
Spread:
Ravens -4.5: -110
Raiders: +4.5: -110
Moneyline:
Ravens: -220
Raiders: +175
Over/Under: 51.0 (Over: -110/Under: -110)
Raiders vs. Ravens Betting Trends
- Baltimore was the third-best team in the NFL against the spread last season, going 11-7.
- The Raiders were 8-8 against the spread in 2020.
- Gruden’s squad was the best “over” team in the NFL, going 12-3-1 last season.
- Baltimore was just 7-11 on overs in 2020, and it is the favorite at WynnBET to allow the fewest points this season.
- Las Vegas is 22-26 against the spread since Gruden took over in 2018.
Ravens vs. Raiders Prediction and Pick
The Raiders traded away their entire offensive line (at least that’s what it felt like) this offseason and have made some very questionable draft picks since Gruden and Mike Mayock became the organizations top decision makers.
I don’t believe Las Vegas will overcome a lesser roster in the AFC West this season, and I think Baltimore, even without Dobbins, is one of the better teams in the NFL.
Lamar Jackson is arguably the game’s most dynamic offensive player, and Vegas allowed the eighth-most yards in the NFL last season. This one could get ugly, and I’ll take the Ravens to cover the spread on the road, as it was 4-3 against the spread in such situations last season and 6-1 straight up.
At 4.5 points, I think the Ravens are a great value in Week 1 to get the win, and I’d support bettors who just wanted to take Baltimore on the moneyline as well.
