Spread in Eagles vs. Jets Moves Following Jalens Hurts Injury Update
What is it with the ankles in Philly?
First it was Miles Sanders being knocked out with an ailing ankle, and now it appears to be Jalen Hurts' turn.
The Eagles quarterback is expected to miss the game with an ankle injury that limited him all week at practice. And, of course, whenever a quarterback is a late scratch for a game, Vegas has to adjust expectations.
Earlier this week the Eagles were -6.5 favorites against the Jets at WynnBET. Following the Hurts news, however, they're now down to -5.5 favorites. Clearly Vegas doesn't think this news is really a big deal for the Eagles ability to beat the lowly Jets.
In other cases, like Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott, we've seen the line move for their team's spreads move by upward of 7 points. In this case, against a 3-8 Jets team with a floundering rookie quarterback, they don't think Hurts being out is as big of a deal. They also likely built in the possibility of him missing this game in the initial odds.
Here was the inital prediction make by BetSided writer Matt De Saro.
I still like the Eagles even if Hurts isn’t at 100 percent and would take a lean to the over as well. This is because the Jets are not only the worst defense against the rush, but there are two first-teamers from the front seven on the injury report. All the more reason to expect the Eagles’ rushing attack to have a day against the Jets.
Now we'll find out if he was correct or not.
