At this point, we just have to accept that Tom Brady is going to be good and play forever.

I think I may take the Nick Mangold approach, as the former New York Jets center explained how his feelings about Brady have changed in the first episode of BetSided’s “Big Man Bets.”

Accepting the fact that Brady is going to play and embracing his greatness may be the only way to get through the rest of his career. And this comes from someone who has rooted against the man since the day he took over for Drew Bledsoe.

Brady was up to his old tricks in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, becomming the oldest quarterback in NFL history to start and win a game. Brady was magnificent, throwing for 379 yards, four scores, and two picks.

He also led the Bucs on a game-winning drive to set up Ryan Succop’s field goal with just a few seconds left.

As much as some of us don’t want to admit it, Brady is an MVP candidate at age 44, and a pretty darn good one if he can play like this all season.

WynnBET currently has the seven-time Super Bowl Champion’s odds to win the MVP at +1200, which are the fifth-shortest in the NFL. Only Patrick Mahomes (+550), Josh Allen (+900), Justin Herbert (+1200) and Aaron Rodgers (+1100) are ahead of Brady.

The fact that Brady is on an elite Buccaneers team (much of that is because he’s the quarterback) will help him in any MVP race. Herbert’s team is far worse, and history tells us that being on a Super Bowl contender will play to Brady’s advantage.

The last eight MVP award winners have been quarterbacks, and seven of those eight times the quarterback led his team to at least the Conference Championship Game (only Lamar Jackson in 2019 did not complete this feat), with five of them making an appearance in the Super Bowl.

Like him or not, Brady still has it. He’s going to be in the MVP conversation all season, and we may have to accept that there could be years more of this to come.
