Cleveland Guardians vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction and Pick

Andrew Heaney has not pitched since April 17, but in his two starts this year did not give up an earned run. He may have an advantage against the Cleveland lineup on Sunday because the Guardians struggle against left-handed pitching.

They have an OPS of just .632 against left-handers compared to .717 against right-handed pitching. Even Jose Ramierez has had struggles against southpaws, relative to his immense success this season. Against righties his OPS is 1.127 and facing lefties, it is only .823.

Former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber goes for the Guardians and he has a 3.01 ERA to go along with a 2.71 FIP. His strikeouts are down this year, but he seems to be trending the right direction with an 11-strikeout game this month.

Cleveland’s offense struggles against lefties, mostly any offense struggles against Shane Bieber, and no Mookie Betts in the lineup explains the low total, but I still like the under today

Pick: Under 7.5 (+100) -- Josh Yourish

Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros Prediction and Pick

Michael Kopech has a ton of promise, but I'm not sure I can trust him after he left in the first inning of his last start with an ankle injury. He has said he is fine, but the Astros aren't going to chase his off-speed pitches, second lowest strikeout rate in June, and are strong at generating run scoring chances. Houston is fourth this month in wRC+ and should put pressure on Kopech to throw strikes.

Meanwhile, Cristian Javier has emerged as a star for the Astros, pitching to his full potential in 2022. He is pitching to a 3.20 ERA and his FIP suggests he should be doing even better. A key reason why is he is limiting his walks, down more than one per 9 innings this season, while still striking out more than 11 batters per 9 innings.

Chicago is still nursing injuries in the lineup and are far from full strength, while the Astros continue to be one of the best offenses in the league as they separate from the competition in the AL West. On Sunday night, I'll trust the deeper team to take care of business and close out the series on a high note.

Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets Prediction and Pick

While these two teams are worlds apart in terms of talent and records, Sandy Alcantara gives the Marlins a chance to beat any team. He enters this NL East showdown with a 6-2 record, a 1.68 ERA, and a 0.96 WHIP. He ranks in the top 15 in wins, ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP all while playing for a below-average Marlins team.

As if all that wasn’t enough to convince you, Alcantara is only getting better. His ERA in three June starts is 0.76 and he’s not given up a home run since May 16. Alcantara is a Cy Young contender and if anyone can lead the Marlins to an upset win it's him.

Chris Bassitt will try to keep that from happening as he looks to build off an eight-inning shutout of the Brewers on Tuesday. It was a nice, welcomed change after Bassitt gave up 10 runs in his previous 9 ⅓ innings against the Padres and Dodgers. The Mets arguably have the best offense in the league, but Bassitt clearly struggles against strong lineups.

I think the Marlins are a great play at plus money odds with Alcantara handling business on the mound.
