Colorado Rockies vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction and Pick

The Phillies seem to have advantages across the board today. Their offense is rolling and they'll face a rookie pitcher in Feltner that looked completely overmatched in his brief stint in the big leagues last year. He struggled mightily with command and walked five over just 6.1 innings, but Colorado hopes his recent performance in Triple-A is indicative of what he'll be this year.

In his last start in Triple-A, Feltner allowed only two hits and one run over five innings while striking out 10 batters. But this Philadelphia lineup is much, much better than the ones Feltner faced in the minors and they're on fire. They rank seventh in the MLB in OPS this season and while the Rockies actually rank third, Suarez is a much more formidable pitcher than Feltner.

I'm encouraged by Suarez's development so far in his career. After transitioning to a starter near the end of 2021, he grabbed the opportunity by the horns. He compiled a 1.24 ERA over his final eight starts of the year, totaling 51 innings, including a one-run gem against Colorado.

Suarez is in the 91st percentile in average exit velocity so far this year, so he's maintained his ability to prevent hard contact. Philadelphia's bullpen isn't any good, only ahead of the Rockies' in bullpen ERA this season, but Suarez's dominance should render that point moot.

Give me the Phillies to overwhelm Feltner and earn their third straight convincing win.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction and Pick

Ohtani has been awesome this season, fresh off of a 12 strikeout, 6 inning appearance last week, but there is some concern how long he can go into games, not pitching more than 4 innings in the prior two starts.

If he is pulled early, the Guardians lineup can tag the Angels leaky bullpen. LAA has a bottom 5 bullpen ERA this season and the Cleveland bats have been capable this season, top half of the league in on-base percentage and have an early AL MVP candidate Jose Ramirez leading all of baseball in runs batted in.

On the other side, the Angels offense is a potent as any team in the league, second in slugging percentage. I'm going to back them to show up against Zac Plesac and push him from the game and help send this total over. With such a vulnerable bullpen, I can't lay this price on the Angels.

LEAN: OVER 7.5 -- Reed Wallach

Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction and Pick

As you noticed in the trends section, the UNDER is 12-2 in the last 14 meetings between these teams, and I see no reason not to ride that trend again tonight. Both teams are trotting out two of their better pitchers, Greinke and Cease, and neither teams' offense can get much going.

The Royals rank 23rd in batting average and 25th in OPS. The White Sox rank 25th and 28th in those two respective statistics. The White Sox are too talented to not figure out their offensive woes at some point this season, but I don't think a game against Greinke is the time to do it.

It's a low total, but the under is the play.

Lean: UNDER 7 (-105) -- Iain MacMillan
