It's been 11 months, and approximately 333 days since the Chiefs have covered the spread in a regular season game.

Those were the days, weren't they?

The Chiefs somehow ended up being a 20.5-point favorite at home against the winless New York Jets; the tenth-highest spread going back to the mid 1970's. Sure, Kansas City was the far superior team, but it's still the NFL where variance is king. Via Forbes, the only other team that had covered a 20-point spread in the last nine games was Pittsburgh over Tampa Bay in 1976, shutting out the Bucs 42-0. Of course, Kansas City covered the 20.5-point line as well, winning 35-9 and shutting out New York in the second half.

While the Chiefs' struggles to cover the number have been a regular topic of conversation for quite some time now; going 1-12-1 over their last 14 games ATS, it's easy to forget that before this swing of far too many nail-biting wins and string of bad beats vs. the number, they were 15-2 over their previous 17 games ATS.

Regression to the mean is one thing, but this is to the extreme!

It ultimately got me thinking about just how much has happened since that 24-point victory, so let's go through the calendar from the last 11 months and pay our respect to how much the world has evolved since Kansas City covered the number.
