When the Kansas City Chiefs added back up quarterback Chase Daniel early in free agency, questions started to be raised about the future of Matt Cassel in Kansas City. Cassel is a capable back up, but his salary comes in at too steep of a price and it is a much affordable option to stick with Daniel.

As a result, Cassel won’t be in a Chiefs uniform for much longer.

Per Chiefs beat writer Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star:

Kansas City will make an honest effort to trade Cassel, but it is going to be a tough sell to find a trading partner because of his $7.5 million salary. The Chiefs would like to get back some draft picks after giving up multiple picks to the San Francisco 49ers for Alex Smith.

Unfortunately for the Chiefs, they will likely end up just cutting Cassel and moving on. It looks like fellow back up Ricky Stanzi could be suffering the same fate.
