The Phoenix Suns are in the middle of their hunt for a new general manager and it looks like things could start to pick up with the Los Angeles Clippers eliminated from the playoffs. Phoenix had previous interviewed Milwaukee Bucks assistant GM Jeff Weltman and Boston Celtics assistant GM Ryan McDonough, according to the Arizona Republic, but it looks like they have a bigger name in mind — even though the bigger name has no experience in the executive position.

According to rumblings, the Suns have interest in naming NBA veteran Grant Hill as the successor of Lance Blanks.

Marc Stein of ESPN had the report of the Phoenix’s interest in Hill:

Of course, this is just a rumor, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

However, if the Suns decide to roll with Hill over a general manager like Weltman or McDonough, it will be a big mistake.

You want to have a man that has experience building a franchise and both of the men they previously interviewed have some experience in winning franchises, so they would clearly be the more intelligent choices.

We will have to see what the Suns decide to do, but for the sake of their franchise and the fan base, let’s hope they make the intelligent decision.
