Miami is currently trying to net themselves a Super Bowl and while it’s looking like the Dolphins won’t be bringing one to town anytime soon, South Florida is hoping that the game will come to town anyways. The Dolphins are desperately trying to upgrade Sun Life Stadium, but funding keeps falling short and the money just isn’t showing up.

By the way, thank Jeff Loria for ruining the communities perception of what it means to get into bed with a sports franchise and give it taxpayer dollars to build a

tomb

stadium.

However, the South Florida Super Bowl Bid Committee isn’t done fighting to bring the city a Super Bowl in either 2016 or 2017, and the ideas they have in order to lure the NFL to South Beach are as Miami as they come.

Don’t worry, clubs and drugs are in no way involved, but playing a football game on a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier is. The plan unveiled by the committee states that an aircraft carrier will be parked outside of AmericanAirlines Arena, home to the Miami Heat, and it will host a football game, not unlike how carriers have hosted college basketball games.

While that’s a pretty far out idea that actually grows on you (I mean it’s football on water, who doesn’t want to see that), Miami’s chances of landing a Super Bowl took a major hit this week when the House failed to pass a bill that would have allowed for taxpayer dollars to be spent renovating  Sun Life Stadium. The Dolphins now need to find a way to fund the renovations, and the buzz word ‘relocation’ is beginning to float around, likely as a way to scare people into passing a bill like with what happened up in Minnesota.

So Miami might as well get used to this football on an aircraft carrier idea because it’s sure looking like a boat will be a better option than Sun Life in a few seasons time.
