The saga of the Boston Celtics offseason is continuing and fans aren’t getting the answers they wanted as quickly as they wanted them. The Celtics are preparing to see what they can do this offseason to get back to the postseason next year but most franchise decisions rest on the fates of the three biggest members of the team. There isn’t any word yet on the return of Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce and that’s making head coach Doc Rivers very hesitant to make a decision too soon.

According to CSNNE.com, Rivers isn’t really all that into the idea of coming back to the Celtics next season if it means he’ll have to be a part of a rebuilding franchise.

"A league source told CSNNE.com on Monday that Rivers’ decision on whether he will return will not be based solely on whether Paul Pierce and/or Kevin Garnett are back in next season. Rivers’ hesitation to verbally commit to next season has more to do with his uncertainty as to what type of team Danny Ainge, Boston’s president of basketball operations, will give him to coach."

This sentiment of not wanting to be tasked with rebuilding the team is one shared by both Garnett and Pierce but it would be Rivers that would have the most work cut out for him if the team rebuilds under his watch. Rivers has earned the right to not want to have to deal with rebuilding a team as he’s already been part of building one up already.

Danny Ainge said that Rivers will be back, but we have yet to hear a verbal commitment either way from Rivers and it’s beginning to look like the Celtics will be without all of their big three pieces in 2013-14.
