The Spanish National Team was robbed last week in Recife. Originally it seemed like a normal robbery but now it appears to have a weird twist. Brazilian web site Globoesporte.com is reporting that the money and goods stolen were the result of a strip poker part gone wrong.

The original claim, confirmed by FIFA, was that six players had money and possessions stolen from their room after a 2-1 win over Uruguay on June 16th. But now there is a report hat the robberies occurred after the players partook in a game of strip poker with a group of women at Hotel Golden Tulip Recife Palace.

The hotel questioned employees in a meeting to figure out if there was a connection. After the staff maintained their innocence the hotel examined the security cameras and found some interesting images.

The cameras showed women entering the players room. They had a band playing in their hotel room till 1:00 am, how that went unnoticed is beyond me and they most have had some tolerant neighbors.

After they finished playing, 5 players and one staff member left with a group of women and headed to another room and began playing strip poker. The women stayed until the next morning.

The players than reported that around €1,000 was missing. The Hotel in an attempt to defend their image against the very public accusations made by the Spaniards confronted the team. The hotel and team agreed to deny the incident and salvage both of their images. But Brazil’s Secretary of Social Defense asked tourism police to launch their own investigation.
