A lot of NBA fans are dreading this summer’s Dwightmare in free agency. After the way Dwight Howard handled his departure from the Orlando Magic, we are all worried about a drama-filled saga that will consume the NBA free agency period. But if the latest reports are to be believed, Howard is expected to choose his free agency destination on July 10.

According to ESPN Los Angeles, a source close to Howard stated that he would be ready to make his decision on the first day that free agents are allowed to sign with a new team.

This would obviously be great for the NBA fans to have this come to a quick resolution, but we wouldn’t hold our breath.

In the ESPN Los Angeles piece, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak seems incredibly optimistic that the Lakers will re-sign Howard, but there are plenty of other teams ready to strike and make a serious run at the current Lakers center.

If Howard doesn’t choose to re-sign with the Lakers, the teams who are biggest threats to steal him away are the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and the hometown Atlanta Hawks.

We will learn a lot more on the situation as we get closer to that July 10 date, but it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer than that to find out where Dwight will be taking his talents next season.
