The Indiana Pacers are close to finalizing a deal with free agent power forward David West. This doesn’t come as too much a surprise. There were reports yesterday from the Indianapolis Star that indicated he was planning on returning to the Pacers.

"West, 32, completed his two-year, $20 million contract this season and heads into the free agency period without a deal. But both sides have been saying all the right things to indicate that West will remain with the Pacers.“(West) knows we’re in a great position moving forward,” Pacers General Manager Kevin Pritchard said in a recent interview with The Indianapolis Star. “He’s priority No. 1 and come July 1, we’ll have a lot of conversations.”“I’m not (expletive) dumb,” West said. “I don’t plan on going anywhere. This is my team. These are my guys.”"

Now Yahoo! Sports NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the two sides came to an agreement. The deal between West and the Pacers is for 3 years and approximately $36 million with the third year likely being a player option.

West averaged 17.1 points for the Pacers in the regular season but saw that total drop slightly to 15.9 in the post season. He was still a key contributor on a team that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals before losing to eventual NBA Champions Miami Heat.
