Ben Roethlisberger helped the Pittsburgh Steelers do something they hadn’t been able to do since Terry Bradshaw was playing quarterback, win Super Bowls. Big Ben has led the Steelers to three Super Bowls and win two, but that isn’t enough for Roethlisberger.

“I want to pass Terry Bradshaw by getting more Super Bowl wins. That’s our expectations in Pittsburgh,” Roethlisberger said, via Steelers PR man Burt Lauten.

That also would give him more rings than Joe Montana, and any quarterback in NFL history.

“There is no other franchise I would rather play for than the Pittsburgh Steelers,” he said.

Roethlisberger was in London to promote the NFL when he made the comments. I don’t know that the London audience understood how audacious those comments were. Or how ‘full of himself’ they seem.

Roethlisberger is 31 years old and his opportunity to catch Bradshaw is dwindling in the loaded AFC. He’d have to overcome Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos as well as Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

But I’d rather have a quarterback not content with winning 2 Super Bowls than one riding out the end of his NFL career thinking about the Hall of Fame.
