The Charlotte Bobcats have a big priority this NBA free agency period in the form of holding on a young star by the name of Gerald Henderson.

Henderson came on strong at the end of last season and wound up averaging 15 points per game. At only 25-years-old he has to be the main focus of a team in all-out rebuild mode.

Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer via Twitter says the talks between the two sides are going well:

It’s a good sign for fans considering the team has been involved in sign-and-trade rumors for the past week or so. Henderson sounds as if he wants to remain with the team, but we would have to guess the Bobcats are not offering the exact money he wants just yet.

It is shocking more teams have not made offers at this point for such a young player with a pretty high ceiling. If the Bobcats are serious about bouncing back the team has to find a way to keep Henderson in town.
