The Detroit Lions will be hosting a college football bowl game, after agreeing to a partnership with the Big Ten. The bowl game is expected to begin on December 30, 2014, but there is no name set at this time, while they sort through the sponsorship deals.

The game and partnership was announced today.

We are thrilled to be hosting a new bowl game in Detroit that will be anchored by an annual commitment from the Big Ten,” Lions President Tom Lewand said in a statement. “In addition to showcasing our city and its rich football tradition, this game will be an opportunity for fans to enjoy a postseason matchup featuring one of college football’s best conferences.”

December will be awfully cold in Detroit, but you can expect the Lions to put on a good event that will entertain and please the fans.

Detroit previously hosted the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, but you can expect that game to come to an end.

While we continue to learn more about bowl games that will be taking place once the BCS is no more, the fans really are just looking forward to the new playoff system.
