Brandon Marshall had to have hip surgery and he is blaming the Chicago Bears offense for the injury. The lack of targets in the Bears offense allowed defenses to focus on Marshall and that led to the injury.

That is one of the reasons Marshall was excited that the Bears signed tight end Martellus Bennett.

“It was tough sledding last year,” Marshall said, via ESPNChicago.com. “I think that’s why I had to have the [hip] surgery. I had 2-3 guys on me every single play, but bringing in big boy Martellus, I don’t think the league really knows how good he is. I didn’t know, and that was one of my great friends in the league. So I’m excited to see him, he’s going to be awesome this year for us.”

Cowboys fans might say that he shouldn’t expect too much help. Bennett has been used mainly in run schemes as a blocker. Bennett was more successful with the New York Giants last season catching 55 passes for 626 yards. Those totals almost matched his entire production in 4 years at Dallas.

We’ll see if translates on the field like Marshall is hoping.
