Chicago Bears defensive end Corey Wootton, or as I like to call him, “The Brett Favre Killer” left practice today with a hip injury. He is scheduled to get an MRI and is listed day-to-day as the injury isn’t believed to be serious.

Other notable players who sat out for the Chicago Bears today were Jermon Bushrod, Jonathan Scott, D.J. Williams and defensive end Cheta Ozougwu. Veteran corner-back Tim Jennings was excused for personal reasons, as Lance Briggs was given the day off to rest.

"“We’re in a little bit of a ‘next-man’ situation. We’ve got young guys that are moving into roles, where they’re playing around more experienced players. We have high expectations for them. We don’t have freshmen here and we don’t have guys being red-shirted. Everybody has got to be ready to play and the guys know that. They’ve got to set it up and they’ve got to be around guys who can help them learn it. We think we’re getting that done.” head coach Marc Trestman said after practice"

The Chicago Bears open up their pre-season on the road, August 9th against the Carolina Panthers. Hopefully these guys are prepared by then and fans can get at least a 1 or 2 series look at the starters for this season.
