The New York Yankees have everybody’s hated athlete, Alex Rodriguez, for the first time in Yankee Stadium as they host the Detroit Tigers. He heard boos before and after his first at bat of the night, which resulted in a strikeout.

Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York gives us a picture of what happened during A-Rod’s first at bat.

"…Rodriguez heard a mixture of cheers and some boos when he batted for the first time in the bottom of the first inning on Friday night. A good number of fans stood and cheered for him. With a man on second and two-out, Rodriguez struck out swinging against Rick Porcello to end the inning. He then heard resounding boos."

Since many Yankees fans even hate A-Rod at this point, it’s going to be hard not to see him getting booed everywhere. Maybe he should have just taken the ban for now in hopes that people will just forget about him until he makes a return in 2015.

At least the controversy is finally selling some tickets at Yankees Stadium.

"Rodriguez’s first home game on Friday night against Detroit has led to an approximately 50 percent increase in ticket sales and traffic to ticket search engine TiqIq.com, as well as about a 16 percent raise in average ticket price, according to TiqIQ.com CEO Jesse Lawrence."
