Just a few days after the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a contract with free agent guard Brandon Moore — before he changed his mind and retired the next day — the Cowboys are reaching out to another veteran guard with a contract offer. The team is looking into Brian Waters, who most recently played with the New England Patriots. He spent a majority of his playing career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

From Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas:

Waters, who is 36 years old, is looking for the right situation if he is going to return to the league.

Dallas could be that place.

Interestingly enough, the Cowboys gave Waters his first crack in the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of North Texas in 1999. The Cowboys had hoped that Waters could play for the team as a tight end, but they ultimately released him during training camp and he was out of football for the year before going on to a long career that included six Pro Bowl appearances.
