The Dallas Cowboys have been trying to add depth at the guard position for a while with current guards Nate Livings and Mackenzy Bernadeau banged up. They signed former New York Jets guard Brandon Moore initially last week, but he retired a day later.

That has forced the Cowboys to search out a replacement again. This time they’re trying to sign guard Brian Waters.

Brian Waters initially was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys in 1999 with the intention playing tight end. Waters was cut in training camp. The Kansas City Chiefs signed him the following year and moved him to the offensive line. He went on to earn two All-Pro honors as a member of the Chiefs. The Chiefs released him after 11 seasons, he was signed by the New England Patriots and played in a Super Bowl with the Patriots.

Waters is from the Dallas area, was born in Waxahachie and played at the University of North Texas.
