Chip Kelly still not prepared to name starting quarterback
By Josh Sanchez
The Philadelphia Eagles took on the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night with Nick Foles as the starting quarterback, but when Michael Vick came in to relieve Foles and serve as the back up he was nearly perfect in his performance.
With two preseason games under their belts, the Eagles could be getting closer to naming a starting signal-caller.
However, head coach Chip Kelly is still not quite ready to make his decision.
‘They’re doing a great job of making it difficult because they’re both playing at a high level,” Kelly said. ”We’re going to make a decision. One of them could sprain an ankle walking in the parking lot.”
But tell us, coach, who is it going to be that leads the offense in to the regular season?
“You can put your pens down if you think we’re gonna name a starting quarterback tonight,” Kelly said, via Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com.
Talk about a buzz kill.
Despite a lack of a starting quarterback, the Eagles seem to be coming together nicely throughout the preseason and you have to be impressed with how both quarterbacks are embracing the new system. But if there was one quarterback that looks more natural in Kelly’s offense, the edge would have to go to Foles.
We’ll see who Kelly ends up choosing to be the team’s starter within the next two weeks… we hope.
