In Texas they like things bigger. The Dallas Cowboys unveiled a jumbo tron in their new Cowboys Stadium that stretched from 20 yard line to 20 yard line. Not to be outdone, their in-state rival to the south, the Houston Texans unveiled their own mammoth sized screen.

Reliant Stadium now has a total of 14,549 square feet of HD video screens to help their fans not pay attention to the game going on in front of them. There are two screens sitting on opposite ends of the field. The total cost for the screens was $16 million and came at the taxpayers expense.

“Fans are demanding video board displays like this,” said Texans President James Rootes. “You see them in stadiums across the country. At this present time, this is the largest in a stadium environment in the world.”

I bet somewhere Jerry Jones is not happy.

Upgrading the video board was probably a must ahead of the Super Bowl they’ll be hosting.

“The Super Bowl alone will attract revenue far in excess of that,” Harris County Judge Ed Emmett said. “We’re talking about Final Fours. We’re talking about all the other events that will come to the stadium where you get the best fan experience.”
