New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was diagnosed with a bruised heel following the team’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts at MetLife Stadium in Week 2 of the preseason. It was on the first drive of the game that Cruz left for the locker room to get x-rays, but head coach Tom Coughlin didn’t seem too worried about the injury after the game.

“He jammed his heel and is sore so that’s all I know at this point,” Coughlin said after the loss, via USA Today. “He runs to make his living and he’s obviously got an issue with the heel. Hopefully it’s not going to be a long thing.”

Unfortunately for Coughlin and the Giants, it looks like Cruz’s injury could “be a long thing.”

From Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News:

We obviously won’t know more until the team opens up about Cruz’s injury and gives another official report, but it is never good to see a player in crutches and a boot. At this point, it would be wise for the Giants to shut Cruz down for the remainder of the preseason.
