Patriots injury update: Amendola, Dennard out
The New England Patriots will be without two projected starters when they take on the Detroit Lions Thursday night.
Wide receiver Danny Amendola, New England’s prized offseason signing, will not play and Ben Volin of the Boston Globe doesn’t believe he made the trip to Detroit. Amendola was brought in to replace Wes Welker in the slot. Amendola had 63 receptions for 666 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games for the St. Louis Rams last season.
Amendola had six catches for 71 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown in a victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.
Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, who went from seventh round pick to starter last season, also won’t play. Dennard played in 10 games and had three interceptions last season.
Former cornerback turned safety Devin McCourty will play, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald. Guard/Center Dan Connolly is also dressed.
Howe has the full list or players who won’t see the field for the Patriots.
The Patriots and Lions will kick off at 7:30 pm EST.
