The Boston Red Sox fired manager Bobby Valentine after a disappointing 2012 season. Some fans ran into Bobby Valentine at a sports bar and asked him some questions over drinks.

“Is Pedroia the man?”

BV: “Yeah I guess, I think he’s the man. I’d love to have him everyday.”

“So he’s as advertised?”

BV: “He’s like the wind up baseball doll. You wind him up at 10 in the morning, and he is in uniform at 10 in the morning. Walking around with his batting gloves on and his bat, and it’s a night game.”

He says that it’s great but suggests that Pedroia is f***ed up, probably referring to his obsessive nature with the game.

He also says that Dustin Pedroia is much shorter than he is and compares his handshake.

“His handshake is much weaker than the waitress waiting on you.”

He says that it isn’t a dead fish thing, it is just weak. Basically, Pedroia isn’t Adrian Peterson when it comes to handshakes. When it comes to healing, Pedroia is more Peterson like.

Valentine shares a story about how he thought Pedroia’s hand was broken and that he returned the next day and there wasn’t even a bruise. Pedroia simply said he was different than everyone else.

Valentine said, “he’s a marvel.”
