The New York Giants haven’t looked great the last three preseason games, and a lot of that has been due to the absence of Pro Bowl wide receiver Victor Cruz, who injured his heel in the second preseason game vs. the Indianapolis Colts, and has been hobbling about on crutches since.

The crutches and walking boot were shed on Monday, and Cruz says he expects to play in the opener in Dallas against the Cowboys on Sept. 8:

The Giants will need their $45 million receiver when they face the high-scoring Cowboys offense, as this game figures to be a shootout, and New york won’t win many of those without Cruz.
