Pitching around 200+ innings can be tiring to some pitchers in the major leagues and can definitely take a toll on your body.

New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler admitted to the New York Post to feeling “a little tired” as he approaches his 180 innings limit.

Most pictures in the league have a certain inning limit managers set for them to protect their arms. Any kind of arm injury could spell disaster for a pitchers career, no matter if you are a starter or pitch out of the bullpen.

Wheeler is currently at 145 innings between the Mets and Triple-A Las Vegas and has seen his fastball velocity drop the 93-96 mile per hour range in his recent starts.

"“He’s reasonably tired. We’re not seeing his high-end velocity, but were seeing consistent velocity. I think he’s found the strike-zone.” Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen said in an interview."

As Wheeler approaches his limit, pitcher Jeurys Familia has been cleared for a rehab assignment on Monday.

Familia has been on the disabled list since May 12th due to elbow surgery and was cleared after throwing a 30-pitch bullpen session on Friday without having any issues.

The New York Mets are hoping he will be able to return sometime in September.
